Manuel dos Reis Machado is the legendary father of capoeira regional.

Also known as Mestre Bimba, he was instrumental in the formalization and recognition of capoeira during the 1930’s by demonstrating its virtues to the local Bahian government, as well the President of Brazil, and established Luta Regional Bahiana, affectionately known as Capoeira Regional.
